FAQS
Basket Weaving
Basketry is an ancient art that dates back to the earliest recordings of civilization. Historically,
baskets have always been woven with materials indigenous to the geographic area in which they
are grown. Basket weaving has earned a special place amongst the craft arts. Aside from its rich
history, basket weaving is one of the few methods of handwork that requires few tools, and not a
great deal of patient practicing. Once you learn how to handle weaving materials, and a few basic
techniques, you need not to be confined to convential forms and designs. Today, the reed and
cane commonly used for basketweaving come from the rattan vine in the Far East. The H.H.
Perkins Co., since 1917, has been supplying customers worldwide with quality basketry
supplies. We have always prided ourselves on obtaining and developing the best materials available. We
are the sole suppliers of the "European Cut Reeds", these high quality cut reeds ensure
beautiful baskets!
